FARGO, N.D. – North Dakota State softball fell to Kansas City 10-5 in Summit League play on Sunday in the series and home finale at Tharaldson Park.
The Roos jumped out to a 7-0 lead by the second inning, including a 3-run home run in the first. The Bison would answer with the next three runs, including an RBI single from Rylee Henderson in the second and a two-run home run from Reanna Rudd in the third.
However, Kansas City added two runs in the fourth and a run in the sixth to re-open a 7-run lead. The Bison would pick up two runs in the seventh on an RBI double from Bella Dean and an RBI single from Rudd, but NDSU stranded the bases loaded for the second time on the day to end the game.
Rudd finished her final home game going 3-for-3 at the plate with three RBI and two runs scored. Fellow senior Emilee Buringa recorded two doubles in the game and had a run scored. Addie Bowers picked up the loss, giving up the opening three runs of the game.
The Bison will return to action next weekend in Vermillion, South Dakota with the final series of the regular season against South Dakota. The series is set for a doubleheader on Friday and the finale on Saturday.
