Tammy Duursma was named cheer team coach at North Dakota State University in April 2024.
Originally from Bismarck, N.D., Duursma has 20 years of teaching and coaching experience, including two years as an assistant coach for the NDSU cheer team from 2004 to 2006.
Before returning to NDSU, Duursma headed the cheerleading program for Bismarck Public Schools, where she was a physical education teacher since 2009 with classes at the elementary, middle and high school level.
She was also the head cheerleading coach for the University of Mary in Bismarck from 2017 to 2021.
Duursma graduated from NDSU in 2005 with a bachelor's degree in physical education. She was a four-year member and three-year captain of the NDSU cheer team.
She earned a master's degree in curriculum and instruction from St. Catherine University in 2015.
