FARGO, N.D. – The North Dakota State University women's track & field team captured event titles in five more events on the final day of the 2017 Bison Open held inside the Shelly Ellig Indoor Track & Field Facility on Saturday.
 
The NDSU women took eight of the top nine places in the shot put, with junior Courtney Pasiowitz winning at 49-09.75 (15.18m). Senior Katelyn Weimerskirch was the runner-up at 48-10.75 (14.90m), and sophomore Bailey Retzlaff was third at 48-08.00 (14.83m).
 
Bison senior Amy Andrushko took first place in the 800m, running her fastest time ever on a 200m track, 2:09.05.
 
Junior Piper Jensen recorded an indoor personal-best mark of 37-09.25 (11.51m) to win the triple jump, and she also took third in the long jump at 17-11.75 (5.48m).
 
The Bison women capped the day with a victory in the 4x400m relay, with the team of Morgan Milbrath, Amanda Levin, Andrushko & Alexis Woods clocking 3:46.97.
 
NDSU sophomore Klara Lyon cleared 12-05.50 (3.80m) to finish as the runner-up in the pole vault. A trio of Bison freshmen had third-place finishes on Saturday: Tara Smart in the 400m dash (58.76), Macy Denzer in the 60m hurdles (8.88), and Kennedi Sand in the high jump (5-01.75 / 1.57m).
 
Sophomore Kayla Huhnerkoch clocked an indoor personal-best time in the 800m, placing third in 2:15.57. Junior Jordyn Thornton placed fifth in the shot put with an indoor personal-best toss of 47-05.00 (14.45m).
 
Former NDSU All-American Maddie Van Beek, who now competes professionally for Brooks, won the mile in a time of 4:40.65. NDSU senior Taylor Janssen was second overall and the top collegian in 4:58.44.
 
The NDSU women will split the squad to compete at two different meets next weekend on Feb. 10-11. Some Bison will travel to the Iowa State Classic in Ames, Iowa, while others will compete at the SDSU Indoor Classic in Brookings, S.D.
