FARGO, N.D. – The North Dakota State men's track & field team earned six first-place finishes at the Bison Open held on Saturday at the Shelly Ellig Indoor Track & Field Facility.

NDSU senior
Alex Renner remained undefeated in the shot put this season, winning with a toss of 62-03.00 (18.97m). Renner ranks seventh in the nation this year in the event.

Steffan Stroh registered a new personal-best of 57-10.50 (17.64m) to place second in the shot put and rank fifth all-time at NDSU.

Jacob Richter won the 400m dash, clocking an indoor personal-best of 48.46 to rank No. 8 all-time at NDSU. Bison junior
Jake Leingang took first place in the mile in 4:09.43, making him the ninth-fastest in NDSU history in the event.

Brant Gilbertson captured a first-place finish in the 800m with a time of 1:55.55, and senior
Matt Jennings took third in 1:56.62. Bison sophomore Kelle'Mon Hinton won the triple jump with a mark of 45-09.00 (13.94m).

Ryan Enerson won the Bison Open heptathlon, scoring 4,956 points. Bison freshman
Ben Klimpke totaled 4,700 points for second place, junior
Matt Moberg placed third with 4,695 points, and freshman
Tony Ukkelberg was fourth with 4,671 points.

The Bison had two other runner-up finishes on Saturday, as
J.T. Butler placed second in the 200m dash in 22.42 seconds, and freshman
Connor Salisbury earned a runner-up finish in the pole vault, clearing 14-11.00 (4.55m).

Alex Talley posted a huge mark of 59-01.25 (18.01m) throwing the junior-sized 6 kilogram shot put. Talley, a West Fargo HS grad, has already qualified for the USATF Junior Championships in the shot put.

The NDSU men will split the squad to compete at two different meets next weekend on Feb. 10-11. Some Bison will travel to the Iowa State Classic in Ames, Iowa, while others will compete at the SDSU Indoor Classic in Brookings, S.D.
