Fort Wayne Stops NDSU 3-1 on Summit League Road

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Nicole Rightnowar and Katie Crowe each had 13 kills to lead Fort Wayne to a 3-1 (25-13, 14-25, 25-14, 25-18) win over North Dakota State in a Summit League match played Friday, Oct. 6, before 500 spectators at the Arnie Ball Center.
NDSU (12-5, 3-2 SL) starts a four-match home stand by hosting Omaha at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 13, at the Bentson Bunker Fieldhouse. It will be Pink Night at the BBF.
Fort Wayne (9-11, 1-4 SL) rallied from a 7-2 deficit in the fourth set led by Rightnowar and Crowe to post the Mastodons' first win in league play. Rightnowar had 19 digs and Crowe finished with 18 digs to complete the 'double-double'. Crowe had three aces including an important one in the fourth set.
Fort Wayne outhit NDSU .103 to .047 in the match and overcame 10 service errors. The Bison did hold a 12-10 edge in team blocks. Madison Jaqua collected 38 assists.
Bella Lien led North Dakota State with seven kills and matched a season-high with eight blocks. Erika Gelzinyte claimed 11 kills, while Jessica Jorgensen, McKenzie Burke and Allie Mauch all had six. Mikaela Purnell had a match-high 20 digs.
Brianna Rasmusson had 31 assists and 11 digs to complete her fifth straight 'double-double'. Rasmusson became the 24th NDSU player to reach 1,000 career digs and is 22nd on the career charts with 1,008.
