With a little more than five months until the inaugural game at Scheels Center, the new home of Bison basketball and wrestling inside the Sanford Health Athletic Complex is starting to look more like an arena than a construction site.
Three of the six seating sections were installed in May, and each will be retractable to provide additional floor space for practice, camps and other events. Â Most sections will feature green chairbacks with NDSU logos and integrated cupholders, while the student section will feature bench seating.
The sports medicine offices in the west half of the building have been finished, and the weight room continued its rapid progress with offices, fueling station, and rubber flooring in the weight room. Â Turf is due for installation in June for speed and agility training.
Crews have begun framing walls for the club room above the east side of the arena, which will have a dedicated seating area overlooking the court. Â Exterior doors have been installed around the entire building, and work continues throughout the first floor locker rooms and ticket lobby, and second floor offices.
Outside the SHAC, the east side addition has been entirely closed in and concrete work continues in the south parking lot and near the north side service doors and entrances.
