Kelly Claims Steeplechase Title at UC Riverside Saturday

RIVERSIDE, Calif. – Senior Brett Kelly won the 3,000m steeplechase to lead the North Dakota State men's track & field team at the UC Riverside Spring Track Classic on Saturday.
 
Kelly captured the steeplechase title in a time of 9:16.28. He already ranked third in NDSU history in the event after qualifying for the NCAA West Preliminary Rounds last season.
 
NDSU senior Lucas DeGree clocked a career-best 3:54.90 in the 1500m to take fifth place. Grant Mjelstad and Brock Larson both cleared 15-03.00 (4.65m) in the pole vault, as Mjelstad took third and Larson finished fifth.
 
Sophomore Jonah Warwick ran 49.89 in the 400m dash for 10th place.
 
The Bison will travel to California next weekend to compete at the Stanford Invitational, the San Francisco State Distance Carnival and the Mondo Invitational on April 3-4.
