Box Score Photo GalleryCORVALLIS, Ore. – The North Dakota State baseball team (25-26) saw its 2014 season come to a close after dropping a heartbreaking 2-1 decision to second-seeded UNLV (36-24) in an NCAA Corvallis Regional elimination round game Saturday, May 31, at Goss Stadium.
Senior
Tim Colwell paced the Bison offense, going 2-for-3 with a double, his ninth of the season, while fellow senior
Wes Satzinger also recorded a pair of hits, going 2-for-4.
Junior southpaw
Parker Trewin took the loss on the mound for the Bison to end his 2014 season with a record of 7-3. He allowed just two earned runs on four UNLV hits while striking out five and walking three.
The Bison end the season with an overall record of 25-26, marking the third consecutive year NDSU has won at least 25 games. NDSU captured its first-ever Summit League Baseball Tournament Championship and advanced to the NCAA Division I Baseball Tournament for the first-time since reclassifying from Division II in 2004. The NCAA tournament appearance was also the first for NDSU baseball since 1969.
The only scoring in the game occurred in the first inning. UNLV scored its only two runs of the game in the top-half of the inning after Patrick Armstrong batted in T.J. White on a RBI ground out and Morgan Stotts hit a solo homer to left field. The Bison answered in the bottom-half of the frame.

Jon Hechtner singled to center before
Kyle Kleinendorst plated Colwell on a sacrifice fly to right field to cut the Rebel lead in half, 2-1.
The Bison had a runner on third base in the seventh, eighth and ninth innings, but were unable to plate the runner in each frame, resulting in the 2-1 setback.
Stotts led the Rebels in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with a homer and a run scored.
UNLV starter Bryan Bonnell picked up the win on the mound after going seven innings to improve to 7-5 overall. Bonnell allowed one earned run on five hits with three walks and three punch outs. Bonnell also benefitted from the UNLV defense, which turned four double plays in the contest.
