The North Dakota State men's track & field team will travel to Ames, Iowa, this weekend to compete in the Bill Bergan Invitational hosted by Iowa State University on Saturday, Jan. 26. Live results will be provided by Iowa State and linked on GoBison.com.
Men's field events open with the weight throw at 9:30 a.m. and the long jump at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. Running events begin at noon with the prelims of the 60m hurdles.
Senior Matt Tetzlaff will put his unbeaten record in the 60m hurdles this season on the line. Tetzlaff has won the event at three straight meets and owns a season-best time of 8.10 seconds. At the 2012 Bill Bergan Invitational, he recorded his personal-best time of 7.95 seconds that ranks No. 5 in school history.
Senior Casey Orgon, currently ranked No. 18 in the nation in the weight throw, broke the 60-foot barrier for the first time at the Bill Bergan Invitational last season. He will compete in both the weight throw and shot put Saturday.
Travis Fitzke, owner of the 10th-fastest mile time in the country this season, is not scheduled to compete for the Bison this weekend. Fitzke broke the NDSU 3,000m school record at the 2012 Bill Bergan Invitational.
Junior Andy Lillejord will compete in the 60m hurdles, long jump and pole vault on Saturday. Lillejord's heptathlon score of 5,424 points is No. 4 in the nation this season.
