MINNEAPOLIS - North Dakota State junior Antoinette Goodman won one event and placed second in another to open the Jack Johnson Classic for the Bison women's track & field team on Friday evening.

Goodman claimed first place in the 200m dash with a time of 24.92 seconds, and she was second in the long jump with a mark of 18-00.50 (5.50m).

Senior Ashley Tingelstad made it a 1-2 finish for NDSU in the 200m dash, crossing the line in an indoor personal-best 25.03 seconds for second place. Tingelstad's performance moves her into eighth place all-time at NDSU in the indoor 200m. Fellow senior Brittany Page placed seventh in 26.00 seconds.

Freshman Brittany Stangl moved up the NDSU all-time performance list in the pole vault with a seventh-place finish on Friday. Stangl cleared 11-11.75 (3.65m) to tie for the seventh-best vault in school history.

Freshman Lexy Boschee totaled 3,310 points to take fifth place in her first collegiate pentathlon - a score that falls just outside the Bison all-time top-10 list. Boschee cleared 5-07.75 (1.72m) in the pentathlon high jump to top the rest of the field.

Senior Emily Stalpes scored 3,200 points for ninth place in the pentathlon. Sophomore Ashley Heinze recorded an 800m time of 2:23.03 to lead all pentathlon competitors.

"We had a pretty decent first day," said NDSU head women's track & field coach Ryun Godfrey. "Lexy did really well for her first-ever pentathlon. Antoinette and Ashley ran well in the 200 and scored 18 points between them."

The remaining events of the Jack Johnson Classic will be contested tomorrow inside the University of Minnesota Fieldhouse. The women's weight throw begins at 10 a.m., the high jump is at 11 a.m., and running events kick off at 11:30 a.m. Live results can be followed on GoBison.com or GopherSports.com.
