The North Dakota State wrestling team added two more individual preseason rankings on Tuesday, as senior Trent Sprenkle and junior Steven Monk each came in at No. 12 in Intermat's preseason rankings.
Sprenkle, a 125-pounder from Billings, Mont., has now been ranked among the top 12 in the nation by four different media outlets this preseason. His other rankings include a No. 9 by Amateur Wrestling News, No. 10 by WIN Magazine and No. 10 by D1 College Wrestling.
Monk, a 165-pounder from Wausau, Wis., is in the top 14 in the country in each of the preseason polls. Amateur Wrestling News projected Monk at No. 8 at 157 pounds, while D1 College Wrestling and WIN Magazine have him at No. 12 and No. 14, respectively, at 165 pounds.
Sprenkle finished the 2011-12 season with a record of 33-12. Monk led the Bison with 36 victories last season, finishing the year at 36-9 overall while wrestling at 157 pounds. Both went 3-2 at the 2012 NCAA Championships and finished one win shy of obtaining All-America honors.
North Dakota State will host an alumni exhibition dual this Friday, Nov. 2, at 6:30 p.m. in the Bison Sports Arena. The team opens the 2012-13 season with the 43rd annual Bison Open on Nov. 10.
