MADISON, Wis. - North Dakota State freshmen wrestlers Kameron Hamley and Hudson Buck earned All-America honors in Greco-Roman at the 2012 FILA Junior Nationals in Madison, Wis. on Saturday, April 13.
Competing at the 66 kilogram (145.5 lbs.) weight class, Hamley finished fourth with a 2-2 record. He opened with a second period pin of YES Wrestling's Santonio Thompson. In the semifinals, Hamley lost an 11-0 technical fall to eventual champion Nick Alvarez of 305 Wrestling. Hamley advanced to the third place bout with an 8-6 win over Bear Cave's Travis Himmelman. In their second meeting of the day, Hamley was pinned by Thompson to finish fourth.
Buck took fifth in the 96 kilogram (211 lbs.) weight class. He opened with a first period pin of Matt Idelson of New York Athletic Club before dropping a 5-3 decision to Army's Austin Schafer in the semifinals. Buck then dropped a 4-0 decision to Michael Sojka of the Cardinal Wrestling Club to earn a spot in the fifth place bout. Buck defeated Idelson for the second time, 3-1, to claim fifth.
Fellow freshmen Anthony Caputo competed at the 74 kilogram (163 lbs.) weight class, where he went 1-2, and Travis Kammerer went 0-2 at 84 kilograms (185 lbs.).
In freestyle wrestling, Buck and Hamley both compiled 2-2 records. Caputo was 1-2 and Kammerer was 0-2.
