FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The North Dakota State wrestling team claimed eight bouts en route to a 37-6 win over Sacred Heart on Sunday, Jan. 24.  NDSU won four bouts by fall in the victory.

The Bison have now won five straight duals and have a record of 8-4 overall (1-0 Western Wrestling).

Neither team competed at 125 pounds and sophomore Justin Solberg wrestled up to 133 pounds against the Pioneers and won a 15-5 major decision over Anthony Ricco.  Solberg’s win was the first of seven straight for the Bison.

At 141 pounds, senior Ryan Adams claimed the first of four Bison falls, pinning Michael Impellizeri in 1:38.  Junior Andrey Patselov then earned his first pin of the year after sticking Andrew Cohen in 1:35 at 149 pounds.

Junior Vince Salminen won a 7-1 decision over Anthony Priore at 157 pounds, while sophomore Tyler Johnson claimed a 13-7 win over Jonathon Rizzitello at 165 pounds.

At 174 pounds, redshirt freshman Mac Stoll pinned Michael Hartman in 4:35.  Junior Kenny Moenkedick also pinned his opponent, Sam Sheppard at 184 pounds.

Sacred Heart tallied its only point of the match at 197 pounds as Ricky Eichenlaub pinned Drew Ross.

Heavyweight freshman Joe Arthur won his third straight bout with a 5-1 decision over Pual Schweighardt.

The Bison return to the friendly confines of the Bison Sports Arena to take on Western Wrestling Conference foe Air Force Sunday, Jan. 31 at 1 p.m.
