BOSTON, Mass. – The North Dakota State wrestling team notched two wins at the Boston University Duals on Saturday, Jan. 23.  The Bison upended East Stroudsburg, 42-6 and then defeated host Boston University, 27-12.  NDSU has now won four straight duals and has an overall record of 7-4.

North Dakota State 42, East Stroudsburg 9

Sophomore Justin Solberg got the meet off to a solid start, winning a 13-5 major decision over David Luthy at 125 pounds.

East Stroudsburg picked up its only points of the day in a forfeit win at 133 pounds and a decision win at 184 pounds.

Senior Ryan Adams and junior Andrey Patselov each won major decisions at 141 pounds and 149 pounds, respectively.

The Bison then won three straight bouts by fall.  Junior Vince Salminen pinned Thad Frick in 2:02 at 157 pounds, while sophomore Tyler Johnson took down Jeff Jacobs in 1:55 at 165 pounds. Redshirt freshman Mac Stoll then pinned Devon Passman at 174 pounds.

At 197 pounds, sophomore Drew Ross then pinned Ed Ebewo in 5:48.  Freshman heavyweight Joe Arthur then snapped a nine-match losing streak with a pin of Will Weaver in 3:17.

North Dakota State 27, Boston University 12

The Bison claimed seven bouts in the match.  Solberg won a 7-1 decision over Ryan Dowd at 125 pounds while Adams claimed an 8-3 decision over Albert Rush at 141 pounds. 

Salminen then notched a 7-3 decision over Matt Morgenstern at 157 pounds.  Johnson won his third straight bout after pinning Andrew Swank in 4:43 at 165 pounds.

After a Terriers win at 174 pounds, the Bison won the last three bouts of the day to claim a 27-12 win.

The Bison will now travel to Fairfield, Conn. Sunday for a 1 p.m. match with Sacred Heart.
