North Dakota State running back Pat Paschall was named to the 2009 Sports Network Division I FCS All-America first team released Wednesday.

PHILADELPHIA, Pa.--North Dakota State University running back Pat Paschall was named to the 2009 Sports Network Division I Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) All-America first team released Wednesday, Dec. 23. He was named to the Walter Camp Football Foundation FCS All-America team, the AFCA FCS Coaches' All-America team, and the Associated Press FCS All-America first team.

Paschall, a 5-foot-11 1/2 senior from St. Louis, Mo., becomes the first Bison player to earn first team Sports Network, Associated Press and AFCA Coaches Division I FCS All-America honors. He was second in Missouri Valley Football Offensive Player of the Year balloting to Southern Illinois running back Deji Karim. He was a first-team all-MFVC selection.

Paschall finished No. 1 in rushing in the NCAA Division I FCS statistics, averaging 139.70 yards per game. Paschall was also 5th in scoring (9.6 ppg) and 9th in all-purpose yards (158.30) nationally.

Paschall rushed 27 times for 140 yards and three touchdowns in North Dakota State's 39-35 loss to Youngstown State on Nov. 21. He finished the season with 1,397 yards and 16 TDs on 207 rushes for an average of 6.75 yards per carry. It was the 10th 100-yard rushing effort for Paschall in 10 games this season and the 14th 100-yard rushing performance in his Bison career.

Paschall moved up three spots on the NDSU all-time charts into 8th position and finished his career with 2,528 yards on 399 carries and 23 touchdowns in 29 career games. He passed Doug Lloyd (2,410 yards, 1985-88), Kevin Feeney (2,473 yards, 1995-98) and former teammate Tyler Roehl (2,512 yards, 2004-08) against Youngstown State.

North Dakota State finished the season with a 3-8 record overall including a 2-6 mark in the MVFC.

The Colonial Athletic Association led all conferences with 20 selections, followed closely by the Big Sky with 17, the Missouri Valley with 12 and the Southern Conference with 11. All 14 FCS conferences were represented by at least one player.
