Bison Sixth After First Round of Kauai Collegiate Invitational

LIHUE, Hawaii - Individual competitor Trent Olson shot a 1-over-par 73 and the North Dakota State men's golf team finished the first round of the Kauai Collegiate Invitational in sixth place Sunday, Oct. 30.

Hawaii shot a 285 for first place, College of Charleston is four shots back in second, San Diego is third with a 296, Utah Valley fourth with a 300, Seattle fifth at 301, and NDSU sixth with a 308.

Hawaii's Thomas Kua and San Diego's Alex Ching are the co-leaders at 3-under-par 69.  Three players are one shot back in a tie for third.

For NDSU, Bill Carlson is tied for 18th with a 75, Kyle Jandro is tied for 29th with a 77, Zach Stenstad and Nate Varty are tied for 33rd at 78, and Nathan Anderson is tied for 39th with an 80.

NDSU has three individuals competing.  Olson is tied for 10th place, Oliver Boeckel is tied for 25th with a 76, and Ursinio Puga is tied for 37th with a 79.

The tournament continues Monday, Oct. 31, and Tuesday, Nov. 1, at the Puakea Golf Course.
