Former standout infielder Brea Konz has been named assistant softball coach at North Dakota State University. She will be involved in all areas of the program. NDSU co-head coaches Darren Mueller and Jamie Trachsel made the announcement Wednesday.

"We are very excited to add Brea to our staff. She has excellent knowledge in all aspects of the game and is a proven winner," said Mueller.

"We feel Brea is a great addition to our coaching staff and welcome her back to our program."

Konz was a four-year starter for the Bison, playing third base and shortstop during her career that included four NCAA regional appearances, four Summit League tournament championships, a pair of regular season league titles and one trip to the NCAA Super Regional.

The 2012 Summit League tournament MVP, Konz started 224 of 226 games played during her NDSU career. She was a three-time Summit League all-tournament team selection, and also earned NFCA Scholar Athlete and Summit League Commissioner's List and All-Academic honors.

A native of Sioux Falls, S.D., Konz graduated with a bachelor's degree in marketing from North Dakota State in May 2012.
