Four NDSU Athletes to Compete at U.S. Olympic Trials

FARGO, N.D. - North Dakota State has one current and three former track and field student-athletes competing in the U.S. Olympic Trials beginning Friday, June 22, at Hayward Field in Eugene, Ore.
Leslie Brost, an NDSU senior who has one outdoor season of eligibility remaining, will compete in the women's pole vault. She qualified with a school-record 14 feet, 3 ¼ inches for fourth place at the 2012 NCAA indoor championships and was a first team All-American.
Two-time All-American and three-time Summit League champion Laura (Hermanson) Januszewski (2005-09) will compete in the women's 800-meter run. She has the 10th best qualifying time at 2 minutes, 1.05 seconds.
Riley Dolezal (2005-09) qualified in the men's javelin throw with a mark of 241 feet, 2 inches at the Dakota Elite meet in Fargo on June 14. Dolezal holds the NDSU record of 228 feet, 11 inches, which won the Baldy Castillo Invitational at Arizona State in March 2009.
Thirteen-time All-American and three-time NCAA Division II national champion Amanda (Thieschafer) Smock (2001-04) will compete in the women's triple jump. Smock, affiliated with the New York Athletic Club, has the top qualifying mark at 46 feet, 6¼ inches.
Smock won NCAA indoor titles in 2002 and 2004 and won the outdoor title in 2003. She still holds NDSU's indoor record (42 feet, 4 ½ inches) and outdoor record (43 feet, ½ inch).
