NDSU set to host Summit League Championships
The North Dakota State women will aim for their fifth straight league outdoor title on their home track, hosting the Summit League Championships May 10-12 at the Ellig Sports Complex. The Bison hosted the Summit League Indoor Championships in 2010 and 2011. It will be the first outdoor championship event that NDSU has hosted since the Division I Independent Multi-Event Championships in 2007.
Goodman, 4x400 set school records at Drake
Antoinette Goodman clocked in at 11.71 seconds in the 100 meter final to break her own school record by five-hundreths of a second at the 103rd Drake Relays. She finished sixth in the final. The 4x400 team of Melissa Kitching, Paige Stratioti, Ashlynn Simon and Antoinette Goodman set a new school record of 3:38.09 in the preliminaries, breaking the 2002 record of 3:38.54. The Bison clocked in at 3:41.06 in the final to take seventh. Maddie McClellan was third in the steeplechase in 10:24.87, which ranks second in school history and is close to the school record of 10:23.38.
Bison women ranked nationally in nine events
The NDSU women have eight individuals and one relay ranked by TFRRS. In the steeplechase, Maddie McClellan is ranked No. 49 with a time of 10:24.87 and Amy Jo Thorne is No. 59 in 10:28.48. The Bison also have two athletes ranked in the 800 as Brittany Schanandore is No. 53 in 2:07.17 and Ashlynn Simon is No. 83 with a time of 2:08.23. Antoinette Goodman is tied for 90th in the 100 meters in 11.71 seconds, while Paige Stratioti is tied for 73rd in the 400 meters in 54.07 seconds. The record-setting 4x400 relay is No. 49 in 3:38.09. In the high jump, Toni Tollefson is tied for 58th after clearing 5-8 3/4. Emily Lesser is No. 89 in the hammer with a mark of 184-1.
