Schanandore Moves Into 800 Meter Quarterfinals at NCAA West Preliminary Round

AUSTIN, Texas - North Dakota State senior Brittany Schanandore advanced to the quarterfinals in the 800 meters at the NCAA West Preliminary Round Thursday, May 24.  She finished in 2 minutes 7.37 seconds to take fourth in her heat.

The top three in each heat plus the next nine fastest times advanced to Friday's quarterfinals.  Schanandore was 19th overall.  Redshirt freshman Ashlynn Simon also ran the 800 meters, finishing 47th in 2:13.20.

In the 400 meters, freshman Paige Stratioti placed 44th in a time of 56.06 seconds.  Antoinette Goodman was 43rd in the long jump after a leap of 18 feet 4 1/2 inches.  She reached the mark on her first attempt and fouled on her second two attempts.

Schanandore will run in the 800 meter quarterfinals Friday at 7:15 p.m.  The top 12 finishers will advance to the NCAA Championships in Des Moines, Iowa June 6-9.  Goodman will run in the first round of the 200 meters Friday at 8:25 p.m.  Amy Jo Thorne and Maddie McClellan will both compete in steeplechase quarterfinals at 9:30 p.m. Friday.
