Bison Women to Compete at Iowa State Qualifier

FARGO, N.D. - 10 members of the North Dakota State women's track and field team will head to Ames, Iowa to compete in the Iowa State Qualifier Saturday, March 3. The meet gives athletes a final opportunity to automatically qualify for next weekend's NCAA Championships. Brittany Page, Paige Stratioti and Melissa Kitching will run the 400 meters, while Antoinette Goodman will compete in the 200 meters. Goodman, Page, Stratioti and Kitching will also run the 4x400 relay. Faith Kruchowski, Ashlynn Simon and Brittany Schanandore will run the 800 meters and Amy Jo Thorne will run the mile. Deborah John will compete in both the 60 meters and the 60 meter hurdles. Leslie Brost will compete in the pole vault.

Competition Schedule (All times Central)
10:30 a.m. - Pole vault (Brost)
11:00 a.m. - 60 hurdles prelims (John)
11:25 a.m. - 60 meters prelims (John)
11:50 a.m. - Mile (Thorne)
1 p.m. - 60 hurdles final (John if qualifies)
1:10 p.m. - 400 meters (Stratioti, Page, Kitching)
1:50 p.m. - 60 meter final (John if qualifies)
2 p.m. - 800 meters (Schanandore, Simon, Kruchowski)
2:35 p.m. - 200 meters (Goodman)
4:05 p.m. - 4x400 relay

NCAA Championships next weekend
The 2012 NCAA Division I Indoor Championships will be held March 9-10 in Boise, Idaho. The NCAA will announce the complete field next week. At last year's championships, Whitney Carlson earned second team All-America honors in both the long jump and the pentathlon. Leslie Brost also competed in the pole vault.

Bison win fifth straight Summit League title
NDSU won its fifth consecutive Summit League indoor title Feb. 25, becoming the first school in league history to accomplish the feat. Head coach Ryun Godfrey was named coach of the year for the fifth year in a row as well. Deborah John defended her titles in the 60 meters and the 60 hurdles, setting a new school and league record of 8.49 in the hurdles. Antoinette Goodman also claimed two crowns, winning the 200 meters for the second year in a row and also winning the long jump. Paige Stratioti won the 400 meters and the 4x400 relay team of Brittany Page, Ashlynn Simon, Brittany Schanandore and Stratioti also placed first. Leslie Brost claimed her second straight pole vault title.
