Release: February 05, 2012
It was the first conference loss of the year for the Bison, who fall to 5-7 overall and 2-1 in the WWC. UNI improves to 6-4 overall and 4-1 in the WWC as the Panthers won their 12th straight over the Bison.
No. 19 Trent Sprenkle gave the Bison an early 5-0 lead after a 17-2 technical fall victory over Cruse Aarhus. Sprenkle used two takedowns and a two-point near fall to take a 6-1 lead after one period. He continued his domination in the second period, scoring an escape, takedown and two near falls for a 15-2 lead. A takedown with 45 seconds to go in the third period clinched the technical fall.
At 133 pounds, No. 11 Joe Colon of UNI evened the score at 5-5 with a 17-2 technical fall win over Justin Solberg. Colon tallied three near falls and four takedowns in the win.
Tyler Diamond dropped a close 7-5 decision in sudden victory to Levi Wolfensperger at 141 pounds.
