NDSU Men to Run at NCAA Midwest Regional

FARGO, N.D. - The North Dakota State men's cross country team will compete at the NCAA Midwest Regional in DeKalb, Ill. Saturday, Nov. 12 at 12 p.m.  The 10-kilometer race will be held at the NIU North 40 course on the campus of Northern Illinois.

The top two teams will advance to the NCAA Championships in Terre Haute, Ind. on Nov. 21.  At-large selections will be announced by Sunday, Nov. 13.

The Midwest regional is one of the toughest in the nation, featuring defending national champion and reigning Big 12 champion No. 2 Oklahoma State as well as No. 5 Oklahoma, No. 18 Minnesota and No. 27 Tulsa, the Conference USA champs.

The Midwest Region encompasses nine states: North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma, Minnesota, Iowa, Missouri and Illinois. The region includes schools from nine conferences, including the Atlantic10, Big 12, BIG EAST, Big Ten, Conference-USA, Horizon League, Mid-American, Missouri Valley, Ohio Valley, and Summit League.

The Bison, who were the 2011 Summit League runners-up, finished 13th at the regional in 2010.  Travis Fitzke led the team with a 78th place finish and Oklahoma won the regional title.
