Espeland’s Performance History and Personal Bests

2011-12 SEASON

Cross Country (Sophomore): NDSU's No. 3 finisher at the NCAA Midwest Regional (11/12), placing 88th overall with a 10k time of 33:44.28 ... NDSU's No. 6 finisher at The Summit League Championships, taking 31st place overall in 26:34.60 for the 8k course ... posted his fastest 8k time of the season at the Tim Young Invitational (10/15), completing the course in 26:23.10 for 16th place ... took 11th place at the Bison Open (9/30) in 26:25.36.

INDOOR (Sophomore): Placed eighth in the 800m at the Summit League Indoor Championships, finishing in 1:55.16 ... season-best 800m time of 1:53.50 at the Bill Bergan Invitational on Jan. 28 ... season-best mile time of 4:22.10 at the Jack Johnson Classic on Jan. 21 ... won the 800m at the Bison Invitational on Jan. 15.

OUTDOOR (Sophomore): Finished fourth in the 1,500m at the Summit League Outdoor Championships with a time of 3:56.08 ... also ran the 800m at the conference meet, placing 11th overall ... ran the 800m leg on the Bison distance medley relay that set the school record of 9:41.85 and placed sixth at the Drake Relays ... also ran on the NDSU 4x800m team at the Drake Relays that took seventh place and ranks No. 7 all-time at NDSU ... season-best 800m time of 1:50.65 at the Beach Invitational on Apr. 22 ... season-best 1,500m time of 3:54.07 at the Masanz Invitational on May 5.

2010-11 SEASON
Cross Country (Freshman): Competed in all six races for the Bison...Ran a personal best 6k time of 19:16.87 at the NDSU Open...Posted a personal best 8k time of 25:22.0 at the Jim Drews Invitational en route to a 23rd place finish...Placed 16th at the Summit League Championships (8k) in 25:36.0...99th at the NCAA Midwest Regional (10k) in 32:23.12.
Indoor (Freshman): Middle distance runner...Won the 800 meters at the Bison Open in 1:53.85...Posted a personal best time of 4:11.43 in the mile at the Bill Bergan Invitational...Finished 10th in the 800 meters and third in the mile at the Summit League Championships...Clocked in at 1:51.42 in the 800 at the Alex Wilson Last Chance meet...The time ranks seventh all-time at NDSU.
Outdoor (Freshman): Specialized in the 800 meters...Ran a personal best time of 1:50.59 at the Mt. SAC Relays, ranking eight all-time at NDSU...Finished fourth in the 800 at the Summit League Championships with a time of 1:53.55.

HIGH SCHOOL: Four-year letterwinner in cross country and track at T.F. Riggs High School...South Dakota state runner-up in cross country as a senior...Also a three-time all-conference selection and two-time all-state pick in cross country...NHSACA All-American as a senior...Two-time state champion in the 800 meters (2008, 2009)...Also captured the state crown in the 1,600 meters as a senior...Named the South Dakota Outstanding Male Athlete of the Year as a senior...Honorable mention All-American on the track in 2009...Anchor on the state championship sprint medley relay as a senior...Helped Riggs win three straight state track titles from 2006-2008...Member of the 4x800 school record team...Also won two letters in basketball.
