Bison Fall in Double Overtime at Northern Iowa, 2-1

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa - North Dakota State junior Steph Jacobson scored in the 55th minute to tie the match at 1-1 and ultimately force overtime, but the Bison soccer team fell 2-1 in double overtime at the University of Northern Iowa on Friday night.

Northern Iowa's Charlotte Jones scored the game-winner in the 106th minute, dropping NDSU to 3-5-0 on the season. The Bison are now 1-3-0 in matches that go into extra time.

Northern Iowa (4-6-0) scored its first goal in the eighth minute when Shauna Happel took a cross from Claire Clark and found the back of the net.

Nearly 10 minutes into the second half, NDSU sophomore Anisha Kinnarath struck a cross that Jacobson headed in for her second goal of the season, tying the match at 1-1.

The Panthers posted a 9-4 advantage over the Bison in shots on goal, but NDSU held a 3-2 edge on shots in the overtime periods.

Senior Jordyn Wallenborn led NDSU with four shots. Redshirt freshman goalkeeper Sierra Bonham recorded seven saves for the Bison - the sixth time this season she has registered six or more saves in a match.

The Bison play at Missouri State University on Sunday, Sept. 16, to conclude the non-conference portion of their schedule. Game time is set for noon.
