Oral Roberts Edges North Dakota State in Summit Quarterfinals, 72-65

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - Warren Niles scored 19 points including four free throws in the final 15 seconds to lead No. 2 seed Oral Roberts to a 72-65 win over North Dakota State in the Summit League men's basketball quarterfinals Saturday, March 5, before a crowd of 3,714 at the Sioux Falls Arena.
Dominique Morrison added 18 points and seven rebounds for the Golden Eagles (18-14), who won their ninth straight game and will advance to play the winner of Sunday's quarterfinal matchup between No. 3 seed IUPUI and No. 6 seed UMKC.
TrayVonn Wright made three 3-pointers, scored a career-high 19 points and grabbed a game-high seven rebounds for North Dakota State (14-15). Michael Tveidt added 14 points and Marshall Bjorklund had 10 for the Bison, who lost their 12th single-digit game of the year.
Oral Roberts broke a 15-15 tie midway through the first half with an 11-0 run to build its biggest lead of the game, but NDSU answered with eight straight points and it was a single-digit game the rest of the way. ORU led 36-32 at the half.
There were nine ties in the game, including six in the second half. Roderick Pearson's three-point play at the 7:34 mark broke a 54-54 tie and gave ORU the lead for good.
It was a three-point game for more than 12 minutes of the second half. Niles made a 3-pointer with 53.7 seconds left to stretch ORU's lead to 68-62.
Drew Lundberg's free throw at the 18.2 mark made it 68-65, and Wright had the offensive rebound knocked out of his hands and out of bounds to take away a chance to tie for NDSU.
Niles went 2-for-2 at the line twice with 15.0 and 4.9 seconds left to ice the game.
Oral Roberts made 21 of 25 free throws for 84 percent and shot 42.1 percent from the field. North Dakota State was 15-for-23 at the line and shot 47.9 percent overall from the field. ORU had a 36-30 advantage in total rebounds.
Tveidt finished his career 12th on the NDSU all-time scoring list with 1,408 points.
