North Dakota State Sweeps Omaha in Summit League Opener

OMAHA, Neb. - Brynn Joki had 17 kills and 15 digs to lead North Dakota State to a 26-24, 25-15, 25-20 win over Omaha in Summit League women's volleyball Saturday, Sept. 15, at Sapp Fieldhouse.
Kelley Wollak had nine kills and Natalie Ebke added eight kills and five service aces for Omaha, which dropped to 5-7 overall and 0-2 in the league.
North Dakota State led by as many as six points twice in the first set but had to survive two set points. Omaha scored six straight points to rally from a 22-18 deficit before NDSU got a Joki kill and three straight UNO errors to win.
Omaha raced out to a 6-2 lead in the second set before NDSU answered with 11 straight points. Joki, Lambertson and Lauren Cammack combined for six kills during the run.
UNO led by as many as four points in the third set. Ebke had three straight aces to break a 10-10 tie and Megan Schmale's kill made it a four-point game.
NDSU scored eight of the next nine points out of a timeout, libero Andrea Henning had an ace in between a pair of Joki kills, and Omaha was no closer than four points the rest of the way.
Setter Catherine Yager had 31 assists as the Bison outhit Omaha by a .280 to .117 margin. Henning made 12 digs.
North Dakota State plays South Dakota State at 5 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 16. The Jackrabbits are 8-3 overall and 1-0 in the league after sweeping Omaha on Friday night.
