Release: September 01, 2012
GREELEY, Colo. - North Dakota State outside hitter Brynn Joki was named to the Hampton Inn and Suites Northern Colorado Classic all-tournament team after 3-0 losses to Oklahoma and Northern Colorado on Saturday, Sept. 1.
Joki had 13 kills and 12 digs in a 25-18, 37-35, 25-21 morning loss to Oklahoma and tallied 11 kills in NDSU's 25-23, 25-21, 25-20 evening loss to Northern Colorado.
The 37-35 second set against Oklahoma was the longest for NDSU since October 2005 when the Bison lost at Drake.
NDSU went on a 9-2 run to force a 12-12 tie and neither team led by more than two points the rest of the way. The Bison had two set points erased and the Sooners' Kierra Holst got back-to-back kills to end it.
Megan Lambertson, Jenni Fassbender and Carissa Whalen had eight kills apiece and Emily Riese finished with 23 assists and a team-high 14 digs. Holst had 16 kills to lead four Sooners in double figures.
Northern Colorado used a pair of big runs to get past North Dakota State in the first two sets and scored the final five points of the match to break a 20-20 tie and complete the sweep.
Lambertson hit .350 with 10 kills and had eight total blocks including three solos. Andrea Henning finished with a team-high 13 digs and Catherine Yager had 18 assists.
North Dakota State is scheduled to play Milwaukee, Wisconsin and Drake next Friday, Sept. 7, and Saturday, Sept. 8, in the Wisconsin InnTowner Invitational in Madison.
