Release: November 09, 2011
FARGO, N.D. - Jenni Fassbender of Kaukauna (Wis.) High School and Emily Riese of Fond du Lac (Wis.) High School have signed National Letters of Intent to continue their education and play women's volleyball at North Dakota State University.
NDSU head coach Kari Thompson made the announcement Wednesday, Nov. 9, the first day of the one-week early signing period.
Fassbender, a 5-foot-11 outside hitter, is a three-time all-conference first team and two-time all-state first team selection. She led the Galloping Ghosts to a state championship in 2009 and a state runner-up finish in 2010, and was one of 35 finalists for the 2010 Prep Volleyball National High School Junior of the Year.
Riese, a 5-foot-10 setter, is a three-time all-conference first team pick for the Cardinals, who went 39-13 and advanced to the state championship match last week. An all-state second team pick as a junior and first team this year, she was also a state track and field qualifier in the discus throw in June.
North Dakota State, 22-8 overall and 14-2 in The Summit League, has clinched at least a share of its fourth straight league championship and is scheduled to finish the regular season at home against South Dakota at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 11, and UMKC at 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 12.
