Terrence Samuel begins his second year as wide receivers coach at North Dakota State University. He joined the Bison coaching staff in February 2008.

Samuel comes to NDSU from the University of Nebraska at Omaha, where he served as the offensive coordinator and running backs coach under Pat Behrns in 2007. The Mavericks went 10-1 last season and won the North Central Conference championship with an undefeated record. He worked with a pair of all-conference running backs in Brian McNeill and Nate Wurth.

Prior to last season, Samuel was an assistant coach at Southeast Missouri State in 2006 after spending three years as an assistant at UNO from 2003-05. He worked as special teams coordinator/outside linebacker coach (2005) and defensive back coach (2003-05). Samuel was also a graduate assistant for the Mavericks from 1998-2000. He was a member of five conference championship coaching staffs at UNO.

The Houston, Texas, native was an all-city quarterback at Nimitz High School. Samuel went on to play wide receiver and compete in track & field at Purdue University, where he was the recipient of the Kiwanis Citizenship Award, presented to the player who excels as a student and community leader. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Purdue in 1995.

After serving as a graduate assistant at UNO, he joined the staff of John Mackovic at the University of Arizona, coaching the wide receivers and tight ends, then returned to UNO. He earned his master’s degree from UNO in 2001

Samuel and his wife, the former Jaclyn Anderson, have two children.
