North Dakota State University was the only NCAA Division I FCS (football championship subdivision) school this year to have all five fall sports that NDSU sponsors advance to the NCAA regional level (soccer, volleyball, men's cross country, women's cross country) and football playoffs (20 schools). The Bison football team advanced to the NCAA FCS quarterfinals before falling 38-31 in overtime at No. 1-ranked Eastern Washington. North Dakota State was one of 13 NCAA Division I programs overall -- including Stanford, Florida, UCLA, Auburn, Middle Tennessee State, Florida State, Penn State, Oklahoma, Washington, Ohio State, Michigan and North Carolina -- to have those four sports and football advance to a postseason bowl this fall.
