Minnesota Head Coach Tim Brewster

Opening statement:
“We knew coming into this game that we needed to stop their rushing attack. Obviously we didn’t do that. They rushed for a lot of yards. We didn’t get done what we needed to.”

“Offensively we played all right, but I thought we missed a number of opportunities in the passing game. We could have taken advantage of some mismatches that we should have been able to capitalize on. Overall NDSU played a solid, fundamentally sound defensive game.”

On Tyler Roehl:
“He is a physical, hard-nosed kid who ran the ball extremely well. He had a great game and we couldn’t stop him.”

On next week’s game:
“We just have to keep going. Continue identifying the problem areas and try to correct them. I thought this week we had a great week preparation-wise, and we have to make sure we do that next week as well.”

Minnesota Player Tony Brinkhaus

On the attitude going into the game:
“We think we are in every game, but we just don’t have the killer instinct to put a team away or jump out on them. We have to figure that out and finish the season.”

On the offense’s inability to get into a rhythm:
“We had some ball movement, but we couldn’t put enough points on the board.”

Minnesota Player Dominique Barber

On where team goes from here:
“We are going to continue to work hard, and we are going to continue to play.”

On the roughing the kick penalty late in the game:
“We were trying to make a play, and I hit the punter. Now we just have to bounce back.”

On if it was a good call:
“I was in the heat of the moment, and I’m sure it was probably a good call.”

On the disappointment of not being going to a bowl this year:
“It’s a bummer. I know that next year we are going to have a great team, but we still have four games left and we need to finish the season off strong.”

On the overall play of the defense:
“We just couldn’t stop the run. We are going to have to go back to the drawing board tomorrow and look at film to get things corrected to get ready for Michigan.”

On improving the speed of the defense:
“I don’t know what we have to do, but we have to get things fixed for our next game, and we need to fix it fast. Michigan is a great team, and they like to run the ball as well. This is an eye opener, and hopefully we will be able to bounce back.”

Minnesota Player Deon Hightower

On how NDSU won:
“They did everything we didn’t want them to do. They came out and established the run, and they passed the ball very well.”

On how to bounce back from the loss:
“The best thing to do is to watch film, don’t be negative, and prepare for next week.”

On the feeling of not going to a bowl game:
“For me, I’m hurting for the seniors. They don’t get another chance like the younger guys who get to come back for a few years. I feel bad because we lost it for the seniors.”
