Bison Sports Arena

The Bison Sports Arena serves as the home for men's and women's basketball, wrestling, and indoor track and field. The BSA hosted 12 NCAA Division II championships--five in women's basketball, three in track and field, three in wrestling, and one in volleyball.

Opened in 1970 at an initial cost of $3.1 million, the arena has held as many as 8,000 fans for college basketball, but has since been reconfigured to seat 5,830 for basketball and wrestling, including 1,851 upper-level seats for indoor track and field.

The portable game-day basketball floor was replaced prior to the 2004-05 season, and the arena received further upgrades midway through the 2005-06 season with the addition of video scoreboards at center court and above each endline.  The game-day basketball setup includes three-sided shot clocks with game clock displays, and courtside tables with video display capability.

The 150,639 square feet of space in the Bison Sports Arena is divided into two levels. The men's and women's basketball teams compete on a wooden floor surrounded by telescoping bleachers, and the floor space can be converted into four synthetic basketball courts or six volleyball courts, surrounded by a six-lane, 200-meter flat oval track.

Offices, locker rooms and classrooms are also located on the main floor, including an athletic training room and a seven-lane swimming pool. The second level has an extensive weight training facility, racquetball courts, and the McCormick Wrestling Complex.
