Orgon, Tetzlaff and Skime Win Events at Aztec Invitational

SAN DIEGO - The North Dakota State men's track & field team won three events Friday on the second day of the three-day Aztec Invitational hosted by San Diego State University.
Senior school-record holder Casey Orgon won the men's invitational hammer throw with a mark of 196-02 (59.80m). Teammates Blake Elsen (179-06) and Brandt Berghuis (170-11) placed fourth and seventh, respectively, with personal-best efforts. Elsen is ranked sixth in NDSU history in the event, and Berghuis is now 10th.
Matt Tetzlaff won the 110m hurdles in 14.68 seconds and also made his 200m debut, placing 11th in 22.57 seconds.
Redshirt freshman Brendan Skime claimed first place in the 3,000m steeplechase, finishing in 9:35.65.
Sophomore Beau Gagnon took third in the decathlon with a personal-best score of 5,815 points. Alex Koppy totaled a personal-best 5,677 points for sixth place, and redshirt freshman Kellen Plutowski was seventh with 5,557 points.
Sophomore Lucas DeGree placed fourth in the 1500m in 3:58.40. Jerome Begin clocked in at 53.12 seconds in the 400m hurdles for fifth place.
Senior Lee Dhein finished sixth in the long jump with a mark of 21-08.25 (6.61m) and 11th in the 100m dash in 11.21 seconds.
Six days after completing an indoor season that culminated with All-America honors in the heptathlon, junior Andy Lillejord competed in the shot put and discus and posted an outdoor personal-best mark in the shot put.
The Bison will conclude competition at the Aztec Invitational on Saturday.
