Four Bison Women Lead Summit League Academic All-League Team

The North Dakota State women's track & field team led The Summit League with four selections to Academic All-League Team for the 2013 indoor season. NDSU was represented by Katie Johnson, Brittany Page, Ashley Tingelstad and Brecca Wahlund.
Johnson is a public relations and advertising major with a 3.98 GPA. She was the league runner-up in the shot put (46-11) and took fourth in the weight throw (55-5) at the Summit League Indoor Championships.
Page, an exercise science major with a perfect 4.00 GPA, finished second in the 400m (56.56) and fifth in the 200m (25.42) at the conference meet. She also led off the Bison 4x400m relay that captured the league crown.
Tingelstad holds a 3.57 GPA in human development and family science. She won the 400m title with a time of 55.59, took third in the 200m in 24.61, and ran a leg on the NDSU 4x400m relay that won as well.
Wahlund, an exercise science major with a 3.82 GPA, came in fourth in the 3,000m in 10:03.09 at the league meet.
The Academic All-League Teams are voted on by the eight institutions' faculty athletics representatives and sports information directors. A combined 21 student-athletes - 10 men and 11 women - were named to the two teams and honored for their combined athletic and academic performances this season.
To be eligible for the Academic All-League team, a student-athlete must have a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.30 (on a 4.0 scale), completed at least one full academic year at the current institution and participated in 50 percent of their team's competitions. The indoor track and field academic all-league teams are made up of the 10 student-athletes receiving the most votes with all ties standing.
