AMES, Iowa - The North Dakota State women's track & field team sent several athletes to the Iowa State Classic this weekend with hopes of recording some elite performances.
The Bison did not disappoint, as three women either moved into the NDSU all-time top 10 or improved their previous ranking on Saturday.
Redshirt freshman Brecca Wahlund moved into the No. 2 spot on the NDSU all-time list in the 3,000m, running 9:46.89 for eighth place in the meet. Only Nancy Dietman and her time of 9:30.34 from the 1985 NCAA Championships stands in front of Wahlund on the Bison 3,000m list.
Summit League leader Ashley Tingelstad placed second in the 400m dash with a time of 54.82 seconds, making her the fourth woman in NDSU history to run the indoor 400m in under 55 seconds. Tingelstad moved from sixth to fourth on the NDSU all-time list.
Sophomore Paige Stratioti became the 10th woman in NDSU history to run a sub-2:10 indoor 800m, crossing the line in 2:09.26 for fourth place. Stratioti's time was the fastest by a Summit League athlete this season.
Senior Brittany Page finished the 400m in a season-best 55.90 for 11th place.
Faith Kruchowski was seventh in the 800m, clocking in at 2:13.69. It was the third time this season that Kruchowski ran the 800m in under 2:14.
Page, Stratioti, Kruchowski and Tingelstad teamed up to take fifth place in the 4x400m relay with a time of 3:46.21 that stands as the 10th-fastest in school history.
