Goodman, Benke Win Events at Iowa State’s Bill Bergan Invitational

AMES, Iowa - Junior Antoinette Goodman and freshman Anna Benke each won events to lead the North Dakota State women's track & field team at the Bill Bergan Invitational hosted by Iowa State inside the Lied Recreation Center on Saturday afternoon.
Goodman won the 200m dash in 24.54 seconds - the second-fastest indoor 200m of her career. The Summit League leader in the event, Goodman has three 200m wins in three attempts this season. She also claimed a seventh-place finish in the 400m on Saturday, finishing in 57.18.
Benke cleared a season-best 12-03.50 (3.75m) in the pole vault for her first collegiate victory. The freshman from Chanhassen, Minn., is now ranked No. 5 all-time at NDSU and No. 2 in The Summit League this season.
Senior Katie Johnson is now No. 3 all-time at NDSU in the shot put after a personal-best throw of 48-06.25 (14.79m) for sixth place today.
Freshman Lexy Boschee placed third in the high jump with a clearance of 5-08.00 (1.73m). Boschee has competed in four collegiate meets and jumped 5-07.75 or better five times. She is ranked No. 7 all-time at NDSU in the event.
Emily Stalpes matched her season best in the high jump, clearing 5-04.25 (1.63m) to tie for fourth place.
Freshman Brittany Stangl and junior Caitlin Mack finished fourth and fifth, respectively, in the pole vault with marks of 11-09.75 (3.60m).
Melissa Kitching took 10th in the 400m, clocking in at 57.47.
Tingelstad, Kruchowski Shine at South Dakota Alumni Meet
VERMILLION, S.D. - A handful of North Dakota State women's track & field athletes competed at the University of South Dakota Alumni Meet in the DakotaDome on Saturday afternoon. Seniors Faith Kruchowski and Ashley Tingelstad each won a pair of events.
Kruchowski took first in the 800m and mile, winning each easily. The senior from Trail, Minn., ran 2:16.16 in the 800m and 5:00.68 in the mile to win both by more than three seconds.
Tingelstad won the 200m in an indoor personal-best time of 24.87 seconds to rank second-fastest in The Summit League this season and No. 6 all-time at NDSU. Senior Brittany Page placed second in 25.85 seconds.
Tingelstad also took first place in the 400m, finishing in 56.82 for a season-best time. Sophomore Paige Stratioti was third in 57.43.
Freshman Erin Teschuk was the runner-up to Kruchowski in the mile, finishing in 5:03.78.
North Dakota State will host the Thundering Herd Classic in the Shelly Ellig Indoor Track & Field Facility on Feb. 1-2.
