Release: November 09, 2012
FARGO, N.D. - Andrea Henning made a school-record 39 digs to lead North Dakota State to a 24-26, 25-22, 27-25, 25-21 over South Dakota State in Summit League women's volleyball Friday, Nov. 9, before a crowd of 1,059 at the Bentson Bunker Fieldhouse.
Henning snapped her own four-set record of 36 digs against Drake in September. It was the second highest mark overall in NDSU history behind Kari Fagnan's 42 against UTEP in 2007. Henning passed Janet Cobbs for fourth in career digs with 1,508.
NDSU got a career-high 18 kills from Jenni Fassbender, 18 kills and six blocks from Megan Lambertson, and 17 kills, 22 digs and six blocks from Brynn Joki to improve to 12-16 overall and 8-8 in The Summit League.
Kelli Fiegen had 16 kills and Shay Birath made 29 digs for South Dakota State, which dropped to 16-13 overall and 8-8 in the league. Kaitlin Klingemann and Bailey Philippot had 12 kills apiece.
North Dakota State is off until Nov. 20 when the Bison play at Pepperdine. NDSU was eliminated from the Summit League tournament by virtue of Kansas City's win Thursday at Omaha.
South Dakota State can still make next week's Summit League tournament if Oakland loses at Western Illinois and South Dakota loses at Omaha on Saturday.
