Anderson, NDSU Finish Fall Schedule With Second-Place Finishes at Kansas City

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. - The North Dakota State men's golf team wrapped up its fall schedule with a second-place finish at the Bill Ross Intercollegiate on Tuesday, Oct. 16, at Milburn Country Club.

North Dakota State shot a 296 in the final round and finished the 54-hole tournament with an 872 two shots behind host Kansas City.  Arkansas State, Missouri State and SIU Edwardsville rounded out the top five in order.

NDSU senior Nathan Anderson fired an even-par 72 and moved into a second-place finish at 3-under 213 three shots behind individual champion Easton Key of Arkansas State.

Bison freshman Connor Holland moved into a tie for eighth place with an even-par 72 in the third round and finished at 2-over 218, six shots better than his previous tournament low.

NDSU's Trent Olson tied for 18th place with a 222, Bill Carlson tied for 28th with a 225, and Nate Varty tied for 52nd with a 229.

NDSU is off until February, but the Bison are shaping up to have their best season as a Division I program.  NDSU finished first or second in all five fall tournaments and has dropped its team scoring average by 20 shots since 2009-10.

Anderson won two tournaments, made par or better in 9 of 14 rounds, and led the Bison with a 71.86 average.  Olson is second on the team with a 72.79, Carlson is third at 73.07, Holland fourth at 75.07 and Varty fifth at 76.86.
