Kelly Guides Bison Men’s Cross Country to Victory at UND
Release: October 13, 2012
GRAND FORKS, N.D. - North Dakota State sophomore Brett Kelly led the Bison men's cross country team to a team title at the UND Ron Pynn Invitational on Saturday afternoon. Kelly placed third overall and recorded a season-best 8k time of 26:11.8 at Ray Richards Golf Course.
Kelly was the top Bison finisher in an extremely close pack, as NDSU's top five finishers crossed the finish line within 13 seconds of each other - all placing eighth or better overall. That strong team showing resulted in an impressive 18-40 victory over NDSU's only Division I opponent, North Dakota.
Freshman Bryon Schuldt was close behind Kelly, taking fourth place in 26:14.4. Redshirt freshman Brendan Skime was sixth in 26:18.6, junior Moses Heppner placed seventh in 26:22.2, and sophomore Grady Anderson rounded out the team scoring by taking eighth in 26:24.7.
Kelly, Schuldt, Skime and Heppner all recorded season-best 8k times on Saturday.
North Dakota State will compete next at The Summit League Championships hosted by Oakland University in Rochester, Mich., on Oct. 27.
