Andersons Named Summit League Golfers of the Month

ELMHURST, Ill. - North Dakota State seniors Nathan Anderson and Amy Anderson were named Summit League male and female Golfer of the Month by the league office Wednesday, Oct. 3.  Kansas City's Korbin Kuehn was also honored on the men's side.

Nathan Anderson won two of his three tournaments during the first month of the season and had a 71.38 stroke average, just 0.05 behind Kuehn for the league lead.  Anderson began the year with a first-place finish at the Navy Fall Classic by firing a 36-hole school record-tying 138 (68-70), helping the Bison win the event.

He recorded his second individual title and the second team title at the Jackrabbit Fall Invitational with a 54-hole score 212 (74-68-70). The senior also took fourth place at the Erv Kaiser Invitational with a 221 (75-72-74). Anderson became the first Bison men's golfer to win two events in the same season since 2006-07.

Amy Anderson placed in the top three in all four of NDSU's tournaments. She won the Jackrabbit Fall Invitational with a 54-hole 216 (71-70-75) to win by 10 strokes, guiding the Bison to a first-place team finish. NDSU also took first place at the Concordia Cobber Open where Anderson placed second with a 76.

At the Nebraska Chip-N Club Invitational, she took second place with a 221 (74-73-74) and placed in a tie for third at the Marilynn Smith Sunflower Invitational with a 222 (75-72-75).  The Bison placed third and fourth, respectively, at the two tournaments.

For the month, Anderson collected a 73.50 stroke average which leads the league by more than 2 1/2 strokes. With her first-place finish at the Jackrabbit Fall Invitational, she won her 16th career title, putting her one shy of the Division I record of 17 set by San Jose State's Juli Inkster, according to Golf World.
