NDSU Finishes Third at Nebraska; Anderson Second by Two Shots

LINCOLN, Neb. - The North Dakota State women's golf team made its highest finish in seven trips to Nebraska with a third-place showing at the Chip-N Club Invitational on Tuesday, Sept. 11, at the Country Club of Lincoln.
North Dakota State shot a 308 in the final round and finished the 54-hole event with a 932, beating out a pair of Big Ten teams and one Big 12 team. Kansas State was fourth (935), Iowa fifth (939), Xavier sixth (943) and Nebraska seventh (948).
Southern Methodist won the team title for the second straight year with a 903, including a 1-over-par 289 in Tuesday's final round. Missouri was second with a 918.
SMU's Alexandra Rossi, who fell out of the lead after a 9-over 81 in Monday's second round, fired a 4-under 68 Tuesday to finish at 3-over 219 and beat North Dakota State's Amy Anderson by two shots.
Anderson shot a 2-over 74 in the final round and was NDSU's top finisher with a 221. Sarah Storandt tied for 13th with a 232, Abby Knutson tied for 32nd with a 241, Megan Swan tied for 39th with a 244, and Hailey Boner tied for 42nd with a 246.
NDSU individual Cassie Wurm tied for 50th place overall with a 252.
North Dakota State is scheduled to play in the Marilynn Smith Sunflower Invitational on Monday, Sept. 24, and Tuesday, Sept. 25, in Lawrence, Kan.
