FARGO, N.D. - North Dakota State infielder Zach Wentz and outfielder Tim Colwell were named to the Capital One Academic All-District 6 baseball team Friday, May 4, by a vote of the College Sports Information Directors of America.

It was the third straight all-district selection for Wentz.  Both players advance to the national ballot for Capital One Academic All-America honors to be announced Friday, June 1.

Wentz, a senior from Bismarck, N.D., has a 3.95 cumulative grade-point average majoring in health education and physical education.  He has made all 44 starts and is hitting .348 with 12 doubles, four home runs and 35 RBIs.  He is second on the team with six stolen bases in eight attempts.

Wentz is NDSU's career record holder in at-bats (756), hits (259) and doubles (57), and is 10th in home runs (19) and seventh in RBIs (127).  He will tie the school record playing his 193rd career game Friday against Southern Utah.

Colwell, a sophomore from Shoreview, Minn., has a 4.00 cumulative GPA in university studies.  He is hitting .378 with nine doubles, nine triples, one home run, 27 RBIs and 50 runs scored as NDSU's leadoff hitter.  He is 9 of 11 on stolen base attempts.

In the NCAA stats through April 29, Colwell ranked first in triples (9) and triples per game (0.21), was ninth in total runs (50) and runs per game (1.16), and ranked 24th in total hits (68) and 54th in batting average (.382).  He was second in The Summit League in hits, batting average and on-base percentage (.443).

These are the seventh and eighth CoSIDA Academic All-District baseball selections for North Dakota State in Division I, formerly known as the University Division.  Infielder Charles Magedanz was voted in 2006, outfielder Greg Plecki was picked in 2007, catcher/outfielder Kole Zimmerman was named in 2007 and 2008, and Wentz was selected in 2010 and 2011.

North Dakota State is 33-11 overall and first in The Summit League with a 9-3 record entering this weekend's four-game Summit League series with fourth-place Southern Utah.
