Roller Shoots Season-Low, Anderson Leads After Two Rounds at Islander Classic

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas - North Dakota State's Rachel Roller shot a season-low 76 in the first round and Amy Anderson moved into a tie atop the leaderboard in the second round of the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Islander Classic on Monday, Feb. 27.
North Dakota State is 11th in the team standings with a 643. The Bison, playing outdoors for the first time since Nov. 1, trimmed 23 strokes off their team total from a 333 in the first round to a 310 in the second round.
Texas-San Antonio leads the 14-team field by 27 shots after going just 8-over-par in each of the first two rounds for a 592. A&M-Corpus Christi is second with a 619 and Lamar is third with a 621.
Anderson, who shot a 3-over 75 in the first round, turned in a 2-under 70 in the second round to move into a tie for first place with UTSA's Taylor Newlin at 1-over 145. UTSA's Summer Batiste is four strokes back in third place.
For NDSU, Roller is tied for 20th with a 155, Abby Knutson and Sarah Storandt are tied for 62nd at 172, and Megan Swan is tied for 73rd with a 176.
The final round is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 28, at the Corpus Christi Country Club.
