NDSU Third in Summit Preseason Poll, Hodgson First Team: For the second straight season, South Dakota State was tabbed as the favorite to win the 2009-10 Summit League Women’s Basketball Championship as selected by the annual preseason poll of league coaches, SIDs and media ... The Jackrabbits placed four players on the Preseason All-League Second Team and collected all but two first-place votes ... Oakland placed second in the poll with one first-place vote, while North Dakota State held down the third slot ... Oral Roberts garnered the other first-place vote and was fourth, followed by IPFW in fifth, just two points ahead of IUPUI, who placed sixth. UMKC, Western Illinois, Southern Utah and Centenary rounded out the poll ... UMKC guard Chazny Morris was named the Preseason Player of the Year ... Morris was joined on the first team by North Dakota State guard Inger Hodgson, IPFW guard Chelsey Jackson, Oakland guard Melissa Jeltema, Oral Roberts guard/forward Janae Voelker and IUPUI center Julia Whitted ... North Dakota State Signs Four: North Dakota State University head women’s basketball coach Carolyn DeHoff announced that 5-foot-11 forward Ali Browning (Iowa City, Iowa/Regina H.S.); 6-2 center Miki Stephenson (Moorhead, Minn./Moorhead H.S.); 5-7 point guard Kelsey Peltier (Dunseith, N.D./Bottineau H.S.), and 6-foot forward Lauren Dudenhoeffer (Lee’s Summit, Mo./North H.S.) have signed national letters of intent to play basketball and continue their education at NDSU. The DeHoff File: Carolyn DeHoff (Arizona State, ‘91) is in her second year as head coach of the Bison ... DeHoff has an 19-16 record including 12-6 in The Summit League ... She recorded her first win against Valley City State on Nov. 21 ... DeHoff became the ninth head women’s basketball coach in the program’s 45-year history on April 11, 2008 ... DeHoff was the associate head coach in 2007-08 on Elaine Elliott’s Utah staff ... The Utes finished 27-5 overall and won the Mountain West Conference regular season championship with a 16-0 record ... Utah lost in the first round of the 2008 NCAA tournament ... Her duties at Utah included coordinating recruiting efforts, point guard development, organization and planning of the schedule, coordination of academic affairs and directing summer camps ... During her stay in Salt Lake City, the Utes won 123 games, three regular season conference championships and one MWC tournament title ...
