North Dakota State Pulls Away For 78-66 Exhibition Win Over Minnesota State Moorhead

Inger Hodgson scored 21 points including a 5 of 6 effort from the three-point as North Dakota State defeated Minnesota State Moorhead 78-66 in an exhibition game Tuesday.

Inger Hodgson scored 21 points and North Dakota State University shot 55.6 percent from the field as the Bison pulled away in the second half to defeat Minnesota State University Moorhead in a women's college basketball exhibition game played before a crowd of 1,129 at the Bison Sports Arena on Tuesday, Nov. 3.

North Dakota State led 34-30 at halftime but outscore the Dragons 24-12 over the first 11 minutes of the second half to build a 58-42 lead with 9:03 left on a Whitney Trecker free throw. Eight different players scored for the Bison during that stretch.

The Bison shot 63 percent from the field over the second half hitting 17 of 27 field goal attempts. NDSU also committed only five turnovers in the final period. Nine of 10 players who saw action scored for North Dakota State.

Hodgson, a senior from Barneveld, Wis., hit 7 of 9 from the field including 5 of 6 from the three-point line to lead the Bison. NDSU hit 10 of 22 from the three-point line compared to 5 of 17 for the Dragons. 

Alison Gerlach-Nash shared game-high scoring honors with 21 points, while Angie Jetvig netted 14 and Kaycee Charette added 10 for MSU Moorhead.

The Dragons rallied from an early 17-10 deficit to take a 20-17 lead with 9:57 left in the first half sparked by Charette, who hit a three-pointer and a baseline jumper.

North Dakota State cranked it up from three-point as Ashley Samuelson, Danielle DeGagne and Hodgson all hit treys to give the Bison the lead for good. Samuelson finished with a game-high seven rebounds.

MSU Moorhead hit 46.3 percent from the field and held a 29-28 rebounding edge.
