CEDAR CITY, UTAH – The North Dakota State women’s cross country team finished second at the Summit League Championship on Saturday, Oct. 31 in Cedar City, Utah. It was the best-ever finish for the Bison since joining the league in 2007. Host Southern Utah won the title easily with 32 points. Freshman Lauren Rice captured second team All-League honors after leading the Bison with a 14th place finish in the six-kilometer race in 23:19.90. Southern Utah’s Sharla Manuele won the race in a time of 21:50.00. Juniors Amy Jo Reuter and Brittany Gigstead also finished in the top 20 for NDSU. Reuter was 18th in 23:38.80 while Gigstead was 19th in 23:46.50. Sophomore Jordan Krahn placed 21st with a time of 23:52.20 and junior Christine Bruins was 26th in 24:09.30. Freshman Hannah McAllister finished 39th in a time of 25:06.70. Fellow freshman Faith Kruchowski was 51st in 25:44.40. Southern Utah swept the post-race awards. Sharla Manuele was named the Championship MVP and Whitney Curtis was the Newcomer of the Championship. Head coach Eric Houle was chosen as Coach of the Year.
