NDSU Men Perform Well at Iowa State Qualifier

AMES, Iowa - North Dakota State senior Jesse Morrow won the pole vault, and Travis Fitzke and Alec Espeland each recorded season-best times in the 800m for the Bison at the Iowa State Qualifier inside the Lied Recreation Center on Saturday.
Morrow cleared 16-06.50 (5.04m) to take first place in the men's pole vault.
Fitzke matched his indoor personal-best 800m time, finishing in 1:51.77 for fifth place. He ranks ninth all-time at NDSU in the event.
Espeland was close behind Fitzke, placing sixth in a season-best 1:51.80. Along with Moses Heppner, Fitzke and Espeland own the three fastest 800m times by Summit League athletes this season.
Following this weekend, the top 16 performers nationally in each individual event and the top 12 relay teams will be eligible for the NCAA Indoor Championships in Fayetteville, Ark., on Mar. 8-9.
NDSU junior Andy Lillejord has secured a spot at the NCAA Indoor Championships in the heptathlon. He holds the No. 13 spot in the nation with his score of 5,685 at the Summit League Indoor Championships on Feb. 24-25.
