Wahlund, Bison Claim All-Academic Cross Country Awards

North Dakota State redshirt freshman Brecca Wahlund has been recognized by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) as a 2012 Division I All-Academic performer, and the Bison received All-Academic team status with a cumulative 3.49 team grade point average for the 2012 season.
NDSU's team GPA ranks among the top 60 in the nation according to the USTFCCCA report.
Wahlund posted a runner-up finish at the Summit League Cross Country Championships and a 14th-place finish at the NCAA Midwest Regional to receive All-Region honors. She owns a 3.82 cumulative GPA.
As a team, NDSU won its second straight Summit League title and placed seventh at the NCAA Midwest Regional - the highest regional finish in the school's Division I era.
To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 and have either earned USTFCCCA All-America status or finished in the NCAA region's top 15 (or top 10 percent) in 2012.
To qualify as a USTFCCCA All-Academic Cross Country Team, the team must have had a cumulative team GPA of 3.00 or better and have started at least five runners at their respective NCAA regional championship.
