NDSU's Straka Earns Second Straight Summit League Pitcher of the Week Award

ELMHURST, Ill. - North Dakota State's John Straka earned his second straight Summit League Pitcher of the Week award from the league office Monday, Feb. 25.
Straka, a senior right-hander from Chaska, Minn., pitched seven innings with five strikeouts and one walk in NDSU's 7-2 win at Southeast Missouri State on Friday, Feb. 22. He allowed five hits and two unearned runs.
Straka has not allowed an earned run in 16 innings this year and has held opposing hitters to a .127 batting average. He is 16-9 with a 2.81 career ERA.
South Dakota State's Andrew Melton was named Player of the Week after hitting .429 with three doubles, two walks, four RBIs and five runs scored in a 4-2 week.
North Dakota State (3-3) plays Minnesota at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 27, in the Metrodome before going to Tennessee-Martin for a three-game series beginning Friday, March 1.
